If You Made a Mistake & Enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan

Medicare Advantage plans are touted as the best plans available for Medicare recipients.  THIS IS NOT TRUE!  Did you know that all these plans really need to offer is what you already get with original Medicare. That's why the cost of Part B Medicare is still taken out of your Social Security check.  Of course, in the ads and with many telemarketers you hear about all the fluff...like gym memberships, hearing benefits, vision benefits.  Here's the truth...Most people won't use the gym membership.  Hearing benefits are very limited and your out-of- pocket costs for the hearing benefits will be huge.  And you get vision benefits for eye care with original Medicare.

So why are so many people fooled into believing Medicare Advantage Plans are good for them.  They tout a lower price.  They have a lower price because your will pay out of your pocket for everything you do - everything including doctor's office visits.  And if you are a patient in the hospital, you will be very sorry you chose one of these plans.  Your out-of-pocket costs will be large. You will not be happy.  If you have a chronic illness, your personal medical costs will sky-rocket because you will be paying co-pays and co-insurance for everything you do.  Some of the out-of-pocket maximums you could pay are as much as $6,700 in a year.  That is outrageous.  These plans pay good commissions to the agents who will sell them.  So they are good for the insurance company, good for the agent, BUT THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU!

What happens is that the lower price sounds good, the television ads are tempting and the telemarketing people who do not know can be very pushy.  SO BUYER BEWARE.

IF YOU PURCHASED ONE OF THESE MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS WITH AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF 1/1/19, I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU.  You can move back to original Medicare and possibly a Medicare Supplement between January 1 and March 31, 2019.

WARNING:  Do not get chronically sick with a Medicare Advantage Plan.  I have had many clients beg to move back to original Medicare and a Medicare Supplement because their health declined and the money they had to pay for care went up significantly.

SINCE YOU CAN GO BACK TO ORIGINAL MEDICARE BETWEEN JANUARY 1 and MARCH 31, 2019, it is to your benefit to do so.  Call us at 540-465-2937 and we will help you understand what the best options for you really are.  We are here to serve your best interests and will be here for you throughout the years.
