Medicare Open Enrollment for Medicare Prescription Drug Plans is October 15 - December 7. Any changes you make will be effective January 1, 2024. Now is the time to go to Medicare.gov and search for 2024 Prescription Drug Plans. You should do this every year to make sure you have the best, most cost effective plan for you in the coming year. ALSO, this is the time to drop you so-called "Medicare Advantage" Plan (Medicare Part C) and return to Original Medicare (Medicare Part A & B). Many people are fooled by the advertising for Medicare Advantage plans. They don't realize how bad they are until they need medical care. So get out of it before you really need care. Before you go back to original Medicare you should make sure you can get a Medicare Supplement. You will also need a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
Today begins Open Enrollment for Obamacare too. If you are under age 65 and do not have health insurance at work, you will need Obamacare. Since Obamacare began over a decade ago the state of Virginia has used the Federal Marketplace. You could research your plan and enroll on healthcare.gov. THIS YEAR THAT HAS CHANGED. Virginia has its own marketplace. It's the Virginia Insurance Marketplace. You can go to marketplace.virginia.gov to see all the available plans. Or you can call us and we can help you by phone or with an in person appointment. Now is the time to make any changes you want to make for 2024. We know its confusing so just call us for help at 540-465-2937.
